This typical Ming style bread shaped pillow box was made of very rare NanMu wood. It doubled as both a money box and a pillow. The
owner obviously slept on it in order to protect and hide its contents of gold and valuable scrolls in ancient times. Since an ordinary person
would not have had anything of value to protect, it undoubtedly belonged to a very wealthy family. It is tightly grained in structure with
beautiful lines, fragrant smell and purple in color. It has the unique quality of not cracking when dry and has the unique antique patina
characteristic of much handled Nanmu wood. The patina of the fittings attests to its antiquity. It is an excellent decorative accent and
conversation piece for the discriminating collector of Asian artifacts. It’s very collectible and guaranteed to increase value over time. It is
collectible.
