RED CINNABAR LACQUER COPPER SNUFF BOTTLE 铜胎珐琅 朱砂雕漆 鼻烟壶
Circa: Qianlong (1736-1796) in Qing Dynasty
Size：3 inch tall, 2 inch wide at the bulbous portion, 3/4 inch depth.
This is a lovely bottle. It is gorgeous cinnabar carved. This is a type of lacquer that is a vermillion-red in color. It is
made from tree sap. It has many layers and then artificially carved. This bottle is cinnabar over brass. The photos
show the brass protruding with the lid removed.
There are two indented circles at the bottom side of the bottle. No other markings are found. The carving is intricate
and detailed. When removing the lid, we discovered the cork to have been split. We retrieved the cork remaining in
the bottle to reveal a small spoon. This spoon is soft and flexible. I have read that it can also be bone. The spoon
is 1-3/4 inch long.
